Lynchburg Chapter, American Association of University Women

AAUW is a national organization which promotes equity and educational opportunity for women and girls. In addition to the membership awards, the local group awarded scholarships to two graduating high school seniors.

All graduates of accredited colleges and universities as well as those holding an associate degree or equivalent are eligible for membership in AAUW. AAUW’s purpose is to advance equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy, and research. The Association — with more than 100,000 members, 1,300 branches, and 550 college/university institution partners nationwide — advocates education and equity. Since its founding in 1881, members have examined and taken positions on the fundamental issues of the day — educational, social, economic, and political. The AAUW commitment to this mission is reflected in all aspects of their work.
